The unit consists of a 1-semester long independent research project in Zoology. It will involve the equivalent of 5 to 6 hours contact time per week (approximately 80 hours) planning, conducting, analysing and reporting on a research topic negotiated between the student and the supervising academic.
This unit is restricted to students : - Who have achieved the minimum level of a credit in both KZA211 and KZA212
- Who have at least two more credits in second level science units
- For whom a suitable project and supervisor are available
Enrolment is at the discretion of the Head of School: applicants will be advised in writing of whether they have been accepted into the unit.
Projects will generally be restricted to those offered by staff although other projects may be considered subject to prior agreement between the student, supervisor, unit co-ordinator and Head of School. Students who wish to enrol must contact the unit coordinator, Professor Susan Jones, so that they can be matched with a project and supervisor, and are also advised to talk directly to potential supervisors.
Arrange a project before enrollingEnrolments will only be approved when the student confirms they have arranged a project and a supervisor.
