Dean

General Responsibilities

The Dean is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for managing the Faculty of Science & Engineering by encouraging and facilitating teaching, scholarship and research in the Schools assigned to the Faculty, for representing the Faculty on University committees and in the community and for the administration of courses within the Faculty. The Dean has overall responsibility for the planning of teaching and research, the allocation of resources, and financial and personnel administration within budget and Human Resource guidelines. The Dean is expected to provide strong leadership for the Faculty and to foster excellence in research, teaching, professional activities and policy development.
