Industry Placement Scholarship 2009
For students in Year 11/12 enrolled in pre-tertiary science subjects and intending on studying science at UTAS.

This scholarship, funded through PICSE by the UTAS Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology, the Federal Government and the Grains Research & Development Corporation, selects up to 30 Tasmanian students to attend a free 5 day camp where they will visit science-based primary industry on the NW coast, then students are placed with a scientist for 5 days working on primary industry research, students write a short 2-page report and report back to scientists on their experience. They receive $300 cash as their scholarship payment. This aims to make students more comfortable in pursuing a pathway into primary industry or science-based careers.
PICSE Science Education Officer, Anna Paice, aims to present about career pathways in science to all Year 11/12 pre-tertiary science classes by the end of August 2009. Interviews will be conducted at schools in September 2009.
