School of Psychology - IT Facilities Use Agreement (2007) In addition to the IT agreement distributed as part of enrolment process and agreed to by enrolling at the University of Tasmania, use of IT within the School of Psychology is governed by this agreement. Any psychology student using these computers is required to agree and comply with the conditions listed below. All access to computers is continuously monitored and any violation of this Agreement will be considered as a serious disciplinary offence. Activities on Psychology computers can also be remotely viewed by the network administrator and other authorised personnel. Agreement If you agree to comply with the conditions listed below, you may login to the School of Psychology system. To login signifies "agreement with the conditions and hence you can be a subject of disciplinary action if any rule is violated by you". Details of your access to system will be electronically logged and used as proof of your agreement with the conditions. If you do not agree to comply with the above conditions, you should NOT attempt to login to the School of Psychology system. Ethical and Appropriate Use - Computers in the School of Psychology are available for use by School of Psychology staff and students only. Do not allow them to be used by other people. Do not allow another person to use your login name and password.
- Only official work related to studies in the School of Psychology is permitted.
- Keep the facilities clean, tidy and free of hazards. Eating or drinking in the laboratory is strictly prohibited.
- Do not install any software onto the School of Psychology computers - it is strictly prohibited. Particularly do not place or use any destructive programs such as viruses, pirated software, etc. If you feel that you need a program, which is not currently installed, ask ICT Manager, (Vlasti Broucek) Room 114.
- Do not use the facilities to make unauthorised copies of copyright, licensed or patented material.
- Do not use the facilities to defraud or to create false or misleading information.
- Do not act as though you intend to break the law. Do not, for instance, attempt to guess a login name or password to gain unauthorised access to local or remote facilities. All access is logged and can be traced back to you. Do not attempt to monitor or read another user's files or communications.
- Do not attempt to harass others by using the facilities to deliver obscene, vulgar, threatening, or unnecessarily repetitive information.
- Do not destroy, damage, hide or alter facilities, information or files.
Games of any kind and on-line chatting are strictly prohibited. - Do not alter the configuration of PCs.
- Leave the machine set up as you found it. Put temporary files in the C:\TEMP directory . This directory is regularly purged.
- Follow any directions posted in the Laboratory by School staff.
- Report unethical activity to School staff promptly.
Advice to users of Psychology computers - Report IT related problems to Vlasti Broucek (Room 114).
- If virus alert appears on your screen contact Vlasti Broucek immediately. Do not try to rectify the problem yourself.
- School of Psychology is not responsible for any loss of data left on local hard disks. Local hard disks will be regularly cleaned and all unauthorised files will be deleted without any notice. Users are encouraged to store files in their home directories/folders (F: drive) on the server. There is a regular backup of these directories/folders every Thursday night.
- Do not work directly with floppy disks. Use temporary directories and/or your home directory for work and archive on to floppy. Working directly with floppy disks slows system and can cause non-recoverable errors in some instances.
- Space on the server is limited. Please delete old, outdated files regularly and particularly do not store old and unnecessary e-mail messages - you can always copy them on floppy disk.
- Do not use the server as a storage for materials that are not related to your study. In particular do not store images, movies and other material taking large amount of space.
