Provides instruction in the biodiversity and phylogeny of algal groups and allied protists, physico-chemical limnology and
oceanography, phytoplankton ecology, micropaleontology, seaweeds, harmful algal blooms and aquatic food webs. Particular
reference is made to studies in Australian, Antarctic and Southern Ocean waters. Applied phycological research and implications
for environmental monitoring and aquaculture are emphasised.
