Research Interests

I am interested in cellular and molecular biology as well as biotechnology. Currently, I am involved in a number of projects including: (i) hop improvement for the brewing and emerging industries; (ii) the biosynthesis of commercially important hop compounds; (iii) developing polyploid breeding methodologies in commercial species of Acacia; (iv) using plant tissue culture for the improvement and conservation of rare and threatened Tasmanian plants; (v) the biosynthesis of dinoflagellate toxins; (vi) cytoskeletal dynamics in brassinosteroid pea mutants; (vii) laticifers and latex yield in Papaver somniferum (opium poppy); and (viii) thraustochytrid bioprospecting (omega-3 oils).
