KSA722 Integrated Management and Conservation of Antarctica
KSA722 will examine scientific advice being provided to managers on Antarctic conservation issues. It is focused on four themes:
• Natural resource management • Environmental protection • Integrated processes • Research and policy development Each theme offers course work, practical training and research opportunities across a range of disciplines. A wide range of individual abilities will be developed in the process, including:
• Communication and negotiation skills • Analytical skills • Cross-discipline work skills and collaboration
Staff from the University of Tasmania, the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources and the Australian Antarctic Division, among others will teach KSA722. It is in the format of a 2-week intensive short course beginning on August 17, 2009. Numbers are limited.
