Research Interests
1. Functional forest ecology and tree physiology, including tree growth and productivity responses to forest light environment, tree water relations and bioclimatic disturbances such as drought and fire.
2. Tropical and temperate forest dynamics and forest-environment relations, disturbance ecology, regeneration and ecological succession of rainforests and rainforest-eucalypt forest relations.
3. Silvicultural options and strategies for private native forests and integrated farm/forest management for Agroforestry; tree species adaptation and selection for salinity control and management of trees on farms.
4. Forest-environment relationships, ecophysiology and management of minor forest species such as Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon), Wollemi Pine (Wollemia nobilis) and Soft Tree Fern (Dicksonia antarctica), including blackwood and wollemi growth responses to forest light environment and temperature tolerance of soft tree fern.
5. Carbon sequestration and gas exchange, photosynthesis and plant water relations of trees.
