KEA332 Computers in Geoscience

KEA332 Reflection seismic data processing practical

This is a course that builds on the material presented in KEA230 (Introduction to Geophysics and Computing) and complements the material presented in the first semester course KEA342 (Exploration Geophysics). It aims to provide a practical understanding of a wide variety of computer applications within the geosciences.

Topics covered include:

  • Signals and signal processing
  • Seismic reflection data processing
  • Heat and fluid flow modelling
  • DC Resistivity theory and modelling
  • Sensitivity analyses
  • Geophysical tomography

This course is strongly recommended for students intending to major in geophysics, but will also be of interest to students in other branches of the geosciences, applied physics and computing.
