Career Summary
Ron published 13 papers in refereed journals during the period 2000-2004. His highest impact article in the last five years was on the Proterozoic Australia-Western United States (AUSWUS) fit between Laurentia and Australia. He is currently supervising graduate students working on VHMS and porphyry Cu deposits, and on regional and metamorphic geology.
Research Interests
Ron Berry’s research spreads over both CODES and the School of Earth Sciences. His major research interests include structural geology (regional, VHMS), metamorphic petrology, geology of Tasmania, microanalysis, tectonics, chemical monazite dating and mathematical geology. Most of this work has been collaborative in nature and often involved cross disciplinary interactions. He has been involved in applying numerical techniques to a wide range of geological problems in petrology, tectonics and structure. Ron has just started a major project in geometallurgy — the analysis of ore texture and its relationship to metallurgical processes — in the CODES Centre of Excellence. This will be his main emphasis in research and new PhD supervision over the next four years. There are several openings for new graduate students in this new and exciting cross-disciplinary area between economic geology and metallurgy.
