Together with Chemistry 1B (Pharmacy), this unit provides students with fundamental knowledge and concepts in inorganic, physical, analytical, and organic chemistry, with applications in both the physical and biological sciences. Topics include bonding and structure, equilibrium and acid-base chemistry, chemical kinetics, and the chemistry of organic functional groups. Laboratory sessions are designed to increase students' manipulative skills and, where possible, to reinforce the lecture program.
