Paul Haddad is an ARC Federation Fellow and a UTAS Distinguished Professor. He has a DSc from the University of NSW and is a both a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science and the Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering. He is Director of the Australian Centre for Research on Separation Science (ACROSS) and Director of the Pfizer Analytical Research Centre (PARC).

Editorial Responsibilities

He is editor of the international journal Journal of Chromatography A, associate editor for Encyclopedia of Analytical Chemistry, contributing editor for the journal Trends in Analytical Chemistry and is a member of the editorial boards of the following international analytical and chromatographic journals: Analytica Chimica Acta, Electrophoresis, Chromatographia, The Analyst, International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry, Analytical Letters, Australian Journal of Chemistry, Trends in Chromatography, Current Analytical Chemistry

Research Interests

Research is in the field of separation science and covers ion chromatography, capillary zone electrophoresis, capillary electrochromatography, and high-performance liquid chromatography, used especially for the separation of inorganic ions, metal complexes and low molecular weight organic species. Particular interests lie in the theory and modelling of retention and migration processes, methods for control of separation selectivity, design of new detection methods (e.g. indirect spectrophotometry and potentiometry), sample handling methods, and specific applications. Studies also include the development of computer optimization methods and software for the selection of separation conditions.

Research Areas:

Teaching

Separation science, including fundamentals of separation methods and gas-liquid chromatography.
