I graduated with BSc Hons (UTas) in 1997 and my PhD in 2001 (UTas). I then spent 1 year at the University of Virginia (USA), another year at the University of Bern (Switzerland), and 8 months in London (UK) working for a small analytical biotech company. I commenced an ARC APD fellowship in May 2004, and an ARC QEII fellowship in Jan 2009.


Research Interests

My research interests lie in the application, understanding and exploitation of the advantages of capillary and microchip electrophoresis and electrochromatography for the analysis of difficult samples of biological and environmental origin. I am interested in developing new technology to enhance the determination of drugs and their metabolites in biological fluids to enhance patient treatment, and also in enhancing instrumentation used for proteomics and metabolomics to aid in disease diagnosis and drug development. I am particularly interested in ways to perform integrated sample pretreatment and in the use of computational fluid dynamics to understand and design new systems.
