Jason Smith is a graduate of the Flinders University of South Australia where he obtained both his BSc (Hons) and PhD. He has carried out post-doctoral research at Texas A&M and at the Australian National University. In he 1999 received an AMRAD postdoctoral award.
Research Interests
Research activities focus on the development of new synthetic methodology and its application to the synthesis of biologically active or structurally complex molecules. This includes exploiting pyrrole as a Molecular Template for the rapid construction of alkaloids. Another area involves the development of new methods for carrying out demanding organic transformations. I am also involved in the determination of organic reaction mechanisms.
