Research Interests
Ecology of marine parasites. I'm interested in the distribution and abundance, taxonomy, and invasion biology of parasites of marine animals - especially those of economic significance in aquaculture and fisheries. My focus has been mainly on monogenean flatworms and parasitic copepods, both of which are common on external surfaces of teleost fishes, and are often considered pests. I’m also interested in protistan parasites infecting commercial species of molluscs. I’m now studying links between different farming practices and the health of southern bluefin tuna (Thunnus maccoyii), with an emphasis on their parasite burdens. I'm based in Port Lincoln, in rural South Australia.
