Career Summary
After completing undergraduate law (first class honours) and commerce degrees at Griffith University in 1996, I commenced my articles at Blake Dawson in Brisbane. I was then awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship to complete the BCL (essentially a masters degree) at the University of Oxford, which I did in 1998, again with first class honours. Since then, life has been a mix of practice and academia. As far as practice goes, I practice in the area of corporate law, specialising in mergers and acquisitions. I have spent time working for the London magic circle firm Slaughter and May and Isis Innovation Limited, the technology transfer company of the University of Oxford. I was a senior associate when I left Blake Dawson in 2004. As far as academia goes, I lectured at Southern Cross University before being appointed as a lecturer at the University of Tasmania in 2007. I am in the process of completing my PhD with Professors Jane Stapleton and Peter Cane at ANU on the non-delegable duty of care in tort.

Research Interests
The broad theme of my research is the law of obligations. This covers areas such as torts, contracts, equity and restitution. I am particularly interested in the interrelationship between the different types of obligations and how certain policy concerns permeate the established boundaries of those obligations.
Selected Publications:- C Beuermann, 2008, 'Liability in Tort for Employment', The Goals of Private Law’ Obligations IV Conference Singapore.
