David Buchanan’s transdisciplinary PhD won him both the Faculty and University Research medals at Edith Cowan University in Western Australia in 2006. His principle area of interest is better understanding the 'new' creative brain and what this may mean for the whole person throughout their lifespan. His clinical and theoretical areas of focus are mental health and persistent pain states that defy ideas of body-mind interpretations and he is a credentialed mental health nurse with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses and is a National Advisor to Chronic Pain Australia. He is also a playwright, poet and musician and is currently on the Peer Review Panel for the Department of Culture and the Arts in Western Australia (something he will soon have to relinquish now he's here in Tas!).
