Jen is responsible for coordinating and implementing the SNM’s quality assurance agenda including academic staff development. In this capacity, she takes a key role in the design, development and implemention of flexible education, including online learning in undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

To her position in the SNM, Jen brings the insights and skills gained from an eclectic professional background in teaching (schools, TAFE, universities), research, web design, e-learning & the arts. She has maintained a strong interest in creative practice in various fields throughout her career and, over the past decade, has focused on new media and sound art.

Jen's PhD research was an inter-disciplinary project in research through creative practice, inquiring into public discourses of terrorism in the run-up to the 2004 Australian federal election. The outcome was a sound installation with a supporting exegesis titled Blitz: Discursive bombardments in 'the war on terror'.

Her academic interests also include:

  • challenges and benefits of cultural diversity in university teaching & learning

  • best practice in flexible and online learning

  • multi-literacies and innovative uses of new media in university teaching and learning

  • theory and practice of new media arts & communication



Qualifications: PhD (SCU 2007), MEd. (SCU 1995), Grad. Cert. Online Learning (USQ 2001).
Jen holds two BAs (history/psychology and contemporary music) and Graduate Diplomas in teaching.
