Denise was appointed Head of the School of Nursing
and Midwifery in 2006 and as conjoint Professor of Nursing with Sydney South West Area Health Service in 2008.
Denise's career includes a background in clinical education, acute care nursing and teaching and learning in undergraduate nursing education. She was appointed Director of Teaching and Learning and the Bachelor of Nursing Co-ordinator in 2000 and has an extensive history in innovative nursing curriclum development since 1991.
Her research interests include Rehabilitation
Nursing, illness and disability, narrative and Illness pathography and critical medical anthropology. Her PhD is an ethnographic study using narrative as a method in the exploration of
‘the influences of medical science on the body framed through the window of rehabilitation, nursing and medicine'.
Denise is currently the Chair of the Nursing Board of Tasmania.
