Healthy Eating for Healthy Ageing: Perspectives from a Rural Community (Staff)Project Commencement:1 July 2007
Project Completion: 30 June 2008
The Home and Community Care (HACC) Program is a jointly funded Australian Government and State/Territory Government Program. The Program provides funding for services that support people who live at home and whose capacity for independent living is at risk, or who are at risk of premature in inappropriate admission to long term residential care.
The program aims to:
- provide a comphrehensive, coordinated and integrated range of basic maintenance and support services fof rail aged people, younger people with a disability and their carers; and
- support these people to be more independent at home and in the community, thereby enhancing their quality of life and/or preventing their inappropriate admission to long term residential care.
Funding is provided for this project to explore the formal and informal networks of healthy eating oppotunities in the Glamorgan/Spring Bay rural community in Southern Tasmania, to explore how relevant these are, or may be, in building a sustainable approach to government for meal provision to older people in need of such support.
