This project involved collaboration with the Meander Valley Council and the Meander Valley community.
Project Objective
The objective for this project was to undertake a community needs assessment of health and wellbeing services in the Meander Valley municipality. This was done my mapping the community health needs of the Meander Valley municipality;
integrating a component of capacity building into the project through linking the Meander Valley community with the UDRH through the transfer of specific knowledge and skills;
trialing the application of a model of continuous data collection based on principles of community-service provider dialogue;
prioritising and providing recommendations for the provision of health and wellbeing initiatives in the Meander Valley.
The UDRH's role was to provide specialist input into the various project stages through a mentorship arrangement with the project sponsors. The UDRH appointed a project officer to work in close collaboration with the project team and to provide mentorship and guidance to a delegated representative(s) from the Meander Valley community. The UDRH provided specific expertise in research applications, particularly in the area of Community Development/Engagement.
Project Stages
Stage 1
Gather information - Assist with research project design, literature search, accessing and storing relevant data;
Stage 2
Community Profiling - Assist with scoping, accessing information databases, development of a demographic profile and data management;
Stage 3
Trial Model - Trial of community dialogue model;
Stage 4
Community Needs Assessment - Assist with the development and implementation of community consultation tools and techniques;
Stage 5
Data Analysis and Report Submission - Assist with analysis of data, interpretation of findings and compiling of the final report.
