Healthy Eating for Healthy Ageing in Rural Tasmania (Staff)Project commencement date:January 2006
Project completion date:June 2006The aim of the project was to explore the benefits and barriers of three nutritional, structural and social approaches which support healthy eating for rural older people through the provision of meals.
The three models involved in the project were:
- Eating with Friends
- Meals provided at Day Centres as part of a wider range of activities
- Meals on Wheels
Services from a variety of rural settings were involved in the study to identify from both consumer and provider points of view, the strengths and weaknesses of each service model and to develop options for future models which build on strengths identified within the study services and which meet current and projected future needs at the level of the local community.
Services in the study were chosen based on geographical and organisational diversity.
