This health mapping exercise involved a partnership arrangement between the Campbell Town Health and Community Service Committee (CTHCSC) and the UDRH. The project began in March 2006 with the primary objective of mapping the community health needs of residents in the Campbell Town Health and Community Service catchment area. The UDRH role was to provide specialist input through support and guidance to the CTHCSC, in areas relating to the design, delivery and reporting of the mapping exercise. As part of the final stage of the project, the UDRH provided an independent analysis of the survey data collected, and assisted the Committee with the compilation of the final report.

The project is divided into four distinct stages:

  • Stage 1: The development of a framework for the mapping exercise, which includes the identification of key activities, timelines, allocation of responsibilities, reporting and risk management.

  • Stage 2: The distribution of a consumer survey form to residents within the catchment area.

  • Stage 3: The conducting of community focus groups or workshops. The UDRH may provide assistance in the design of these groups, or in developing the survey tools to be used.

  • Stage 4: The analysis of the survey data and interpretation of the findings. The UDRH will undertake these tasks, as well as assist with the compilation of the final report and provide a summary of the key findings.

  • The UDRH aimed to integrate a component of capacity building into this exercise, through the transfer of relevant knowledge and skills to the community. The project was completed in February 2007.
