This qualitative study aimed to determine the factors that influence Tasmanian rural GPs' satisfaction with radiological services and the equipment available to them and assess their current levels of satisfaction with the services they use. It assessed GP satisfaction with their own image interpretation skills.

A sample of approximately 15 GP's from wide demographic and geographic backgrounds throughout rural Tasmania were asked to take part in semi-structured phone interviews. The interviews covered issues such as: use of equipment; access to services and equipment; and satisfaction with radiology services. This includeed technical support, equipment operation and image interpretation. The results will be analysed using an iterative and interpretive technique using NVIVO software. The analysis identified major factors important in assessing GP satisfaction with all aspects of rural radiology services and helped gain insight into areas of services which need improvement.
