Research Interests

Environmental health, social capital and community building, community engagement, inter-professional education, water management and public health, health sociology, flexible education.

Jess is the joint co-ordinator of Community Engagament at the UDRH and is currently involved in a number of community health mapping and needs assessments across the State. She also sits on the Statewide Department of Health and Human Services Consumer and Community Engagement Reference Group.

Teaching

Jess has been involved in the ongoing development and expansion of the Rural Inter-Professional Program Emergency Retreat (RIPPER), a program for Medical, Nursing and Pharmacy students in the final years of their undergraduate careers within the Faculty of Health Science. She also teaches and supervises under the PHCRED program in the area of research design and practice. Jess is also assisting in the redevelopment and teaching of parts of the Health Informatics Course offered through the UDRH.
