Two RCS medical students will undertake electives in Vietnam at the end of 2009, funded by the Hoc Mai Australia Vietnam Medical Foundation and the RCS. The $5,000 bursaries will enable the Year 4/5 students to travel to Vietnam during their summer break to gain first-hand experience of emergency medicine in a developing country.
GPNW will again offer a $3,000 award to honour the memory of Dr Simon Monks and to acknowledge excellence in General Practice by a fourth/fifth year RCS medical student.
Dr Monks was a highly respected partner in the East Devonport Medical Centre and a GPNW Board member who was actively involved in teaching and mentoring RCS students prior to his sudden and unexpected death in 2007.
The Award is supported by Dr Monk’s family, and GPNW works with the RCS to select a recipient. Closing Date: Monday, 26 October 2009
