Nick has pursued an active interest in rural health issues throughout his undergraduate and postgraduate years. He was among the first cohort of students to train at the University of Tasmania, Rural Clinical School. He was a founding member for the National Rural Health Network and was extensively engaged in the assessment of rural health curricula at medical schools around Australia.
Since graduation he has undertaken his internship and resident medical years in regional Tasmania. Prior to his employment with the University of Tasmania he has taught Personal Health Enhancement and Environmental Medicine to students enrolled in the Monash University MBBS course.Nick is currently undertaking research into healthy food choices at children’s sporting venues, as a research assistant, funding through the PHCRED (Primary Health Care Research, Evaluation and Development scheme).

•Climate Change and health, implications for food security and exploration of healthy adaptive responses
Teaching
•Teaching and supervision of 5th and 6th year medical students based at the Rural Clinical School, Burnie
•Development of teaching resources to support the transition of final year students into clinical internship
