Ali’s role is a conjoint position with the Rural Clinical School and DHHS Mental Health Services.
Her background is in clinical psychology and she has worked in a variety of public and private settings in New Zealand. Her clinical work has included positions in forensic and correction services, psychiatric emergency departments, specialised mental health teams and government contracts to treat individuals suffering from traumatic brain injury and post traumatic stress disorder, chronic pain and clinical supervision. She has worked with organisations providing debriefing services to staff.
Ali has recently completed her PhD thesis looking at the nature and development of psychological resilience. Her thesis titled “The development of resilience - a model” was recommended for inclusion on the Dean’s List at the University of Canterbury.

• Within the MBBS program, the development of a unit addressing issues in clinical leadership and how positive psychology principles can be incorporated into leadership roles
