RCS facility in Burnie

The impressive facility is the main base for RCS students and staff, including part-time teaching staff involved in the MBBS undergraduate rural clinical program. It provides a centralised location for the RCS which works across the Cradle Coast region on a hub and spoke model.

The building is also used by nursing, pharmacy, clinical psychology and allied health undergraduate students, and by post-graduate students working in the region. It is extensively used by clinicians and health professionals for team meetings and professional development events.

Facilities now include: lecture, tutorial and meeting rooms, extended video-conferencing facilities, a Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre, student study and recreation areas, a clinicians lounge and offices, and working areas for research, academic and administration staff. There are three teaching/consulting rooms and video de-briefing facilites.

The building has been designed to provide a range of flexible configurations.

The facility is viewed as an important community resource. Prospective staff and students and members of the public are invited to tour the building by arrangement.

Health professionals working in support of RCS programs are encouraged to make use of the facility and can obtain a 24-hour access card from reception.
