Master of Pharmaceutical Science
I come from a small Himalayan Kingdom called BHUTAN. I am quite sure that most of you might not have heard of this place! It is located in the foothills of the Himalayas, between China and India. Well, being one of the first from Bhutan to study at the University of Tasmania, I thought I would write something about myself so that even if there aren’t any more students coming here from Bhutan in the future, at least you will remember this small country through me.
I am a Pharmacist by profession and I did my Master of Pharmacy (Hons) from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland. After graduation, I had two years work experience working as a hospital pharmacist. Presently I am working as a Pharmacist in a Government Agency looking after procurement, distribution and management of medical supplies for the public sector. In addition I also am responsible for conducting training courses and teaching certificate level to health workers on all aspects related to pharmaceuticals.
Why Tasmania? After my initial degree in the UK, I have always wanted to come to Australia. I came across the University of Tasmania website by accident and found the Master of Pharmaceutical Science course. I was interested in expanding my career opportunities as well as developing my research skills so I decided to apply. And I am glad I did! As well as enjoying the course, Tasmania is a great place to live and to study. Although I will not be living here for long, I am happy to have spent a short, but nonetheless, very significant part of my life here.
From what little I know about the staff, they are great but only time will tell - just kidding Overall, life in Australia is very laid back and relaxed, friendly people, nice atmosphere- what more can one ask for?
I certainly hope to do well in my studies and learn a lot from my degree here so that I can have a fulfilling professional career – exactly what I set out to do!!
