General Responsibilities

Jill received a Tasmanian Diploma of Pharmacy many decades ago and worked briefly in community pharmacy before working for the Commonwealth Health Department, Northern Territory. Returning to Tasmania, Jill undertook locum work in community pharmacy before travelling overseas and working in hospital and community pharmacy in England. Back in Tasmania once again, Jill took on employment at the Royal Hobart Hospital before an extended break from pharmacy, during which time she helped save the Franklin River and completed a BA at UTas. At the suggestion of an elder pharmacist, she began looking at pharmacy history, which culminated in a book about the formation of the Pharmaceutical Society in Tasmania from 1891-1897. She worked at Royal Derwent Hospital for a period, and then became Secretary, Pharmaceutical Society (Tas Branch) for two years. She became qualified to undertake Home Medicines Reviews and now works part-time in a community pharmacy and does hope and residential reviews.
