General Responsibilities

Tonie gained her Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Queensland, travelled widely before returning to Australia, and has held registration in four countries. Her pharmacy career has encompassed experience in hospital pharmacy, government pharmacy in a variety of roles, community pharmacy with extensive locum experience, and recently research pharmacy. Tonie was appointed as Tasmania’s representative on the Australian National Council on Drugs for three terms, from 1999 to 2007, and is the only Australian pharmacist to have held an appointment with the Council. Her work with the council utilized her qualifications in counseling, wide experience in pharmacotherapy provision, drug and alcohol counseling with individuals and groups, behavior change programs and extensive pharmacy experience. Tonie has a keen interest in proactive health care, including the underlying impact of alcohol and other drugs on general health management.
