General Responsibilities

Preparation and delivery of prescribed CSA350 lectures and other as required.

Management of:

.Pharmacy Recording of medication incidents and services (PROMISe).

.Web-based assessment of competence using a MCQ examination.

.Use of artificial intelligence for detecting drug-related problems.

.Assessment of quality and nature of DRPs detected by accredited pharmacists.

.Supervise Hons students.


Career Summary

Peter graduated with a BPharm in 1978 from the Western Australian Institute of Technology (now Curtin University). Peter commenced his career in hospital pharmacy in 1979, and spent over fifteen years as a clinical pharmacy practitioner at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital and Fremantle Hospital before joining Curtin University. Peter holds a Master of Pharmacy (Clinical Pharmacy) degree. He is widely recognised as one of Australia’s leading clinical pharmacy practitioners and teachers. He previously held a joint appointment with Curtin University and Royal Perth Hospital, before moving to Hobart, to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the area of health informatics and clinical interventions in community pharmacies, under the supervision of Professor Greg Peterson. He also has an active consulting practice in clinical pharmacy.


Research Interests

Masters thesis title: A review of clinical pharmacist activities and services provided for cancer patients in three major teaching hospitals in Western Australia.

PhD thesis: Clinical interventions in Australian pharmacies. Supervisor: Professor Greg Peterson.

.Detection and recording of DRPs by community and accredited pharmacists.

.Specific DRPs in patients within aged care facilities.

.Quality of medication reviews.
