Ella graduated from the Tasmanian School of Pharmacy with first class honours in 2005. She went on to work in rural community pharmacy practice in northern Tasmania. Ella’s honours project looked at improving the use of anticoagulant drugs, particularly through patient self-monitoring. She returned to the School to undertake further studies in this field in mid 2008. Her PhD studies centre around enhancing warfarin management in Australia, again focusing on patient self-monitoring of therapy. Ella was instrumental in developing the comprehensive website anticoagulation.com.au to enhance the support for patients and health professionals involved in warfarin therapy. She continues to work as a locum in community pharmacies, as well as working in a private hospital pharmacy.
