Research Interests

As Associate Head of the School of Medicine for Research, and Associate Dean for Research in the Faculty of Health Science has been working to develop a strategic plan for the TSoM based upon seven strategic research groups and a new joint Health Service and University Centre for Clinical Research.
Currently helping to set up, projects in the following areas:
· Physiological tests for small airway function
· Pathophysiology of airways in COPD and Asthma
· COPD and interstitial lung disease – epidemiology in Tasmania and its clinical management
· Evidence-based medicine
· Modulation of immune system in atopy and autoimmune disease.

Teaching

Actively involved in clinical teaching in years 3rd – 6th, both in Hobart and in the two northern clinical schools and providing clinical input to the Course Committee for years 1 and 2. Coordinator for “Doctor and Patient” Domain in new curriculum. Also actively involved in the delivery of lectures to GPs, healthcare workers and the general public.
