I graduated MB BS from the University of Tasmania and then pursued specialist training in Brisbane, Hammersmith Hospital, London and Hobart in Clinical Pharmacology and General Medicine. I subsequently obtained an MD from the University of Tasmania for research into hypertension.
Research Interests
Early research interests in addition to hypertension were related to NSAIDs and prostanoids particularly in relation to platelet and vascular effects. More recently I have become interested in improving the use of medications particularly in chronic cardiovascular diseases. A major ongoing project in collaboration with Prof G Peterson in the School of Pharmacy aims to improve thrombosis prophylaxis in atrial fibrillation.
