Nutrition and Disease

Research Overview

Research by this group is focused on nutrition with particular relevance to the prevention and management of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The group is efficient and equipped to conduct human dietary intervention trials and laboratory analyses. Ongoing projects include:

  • • Dietary, lifestyle and genetic determinants of trace element and antioxidant status.
  • • Effect of chilli intake on diabetes associated risk factors including plasma glucose and insulin.
  • • Chickpeas and cardiovascular health.
  • • Effect of food intake on postprandial measures of vascular function.
