Students in the
Outdoor Education Teaching Specialisation learn in a number of
outdoor classrooms in addition to being housed predominantly in the
Centre for Human Movement.
Outdoor Education units utilise
outdoor education centres, bush, rock, and river environments in addition to
the challenge ropes course situated on the Launceston Campus to teach
theory in practice.
Outdoor
Education Teaching Specialisation Units include:
ESP312 – Foundations of Outdoor Education
ESP313 – Outdoor Environments 1
ESP321 – Safety and Risk Management in the Outdoors
ESP413 – Outdoor Environments 2
ESP404 – Issues in Outdoor Education
ESP405 – Pedagogy of Outdoor Education
ESP406 – Outdoor Journeys
Throughout these units, students learn about
underpinning theories and how these relate in practice.
Practical applications of theory are embedded into all units.
