Welcome to the Faculty of Education.

Within the Faculty, the School of Education offers a range of undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate coursework and research higher degrees to prepare prospective students for rewarding careers in education.

With campuses in Hobart, Launceston and at the Cradle Coast a strong focus on flexibility is our strength. Our flexible course delivery incorporates online teaching and learning to complement traditional methods of teaching to enrich the learning experience beyond the classroom. 

The units that are offered partially or fully online are delivered using the software platform MyLO. 

To ensure our undergraduates are prepared for the teaching world, we provide students with extensive Professional Experience  opportunities with increased teaching responsibilities as  students progress through their course.

Our Strengths

We value our strong relationships with key stakeholders that represent the diversity of the education sector and the community.  We draw on these organisations to prepare pre-service and in-service teachers for their roles as professionals and members of the wider community. 

Our courses are developed to meet the needs of busy working people.  Studies can be completed full time or part time.  Your choice of units determines whether you study internally through traditional on-campus day and evening lectures and workshops; externally with online support; on campus in summer school; via video conferencing; or via weekend study schools.

All students have 24 hour access to computer laboratories on all of the campuses    

Full-time research students who opt to study on-campus are provided with fully equipped workstations in shared research offices, with access to Faculty resource rooms and facilities.

Our Support

During a course of study many students encounter a number of issues that impact their studies. At UTAS there are people and support services available to help.
