Career Summary
Tim obtained a PhD in Sociology from the University of Queensland in 1997.
Before coming to Tasmania, Tim worked as a Research Officer at the Criminal Justice Commission in Queensland, and as a Lecturer in Sociology at La Trobe University in Victoria.

Recent highlights of his work in these areas include (i) being awarded the 2002 Australian Sociological Association (TASA) prize for best paper in the Journal of Sociology for the article 'Popular Understandings of "UnAustralian"', and (ii) receiving an Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery grant from 2002 to 2004, to undertake a nationwide survey on experiences of rude and inconsiderate behaviour in everyday life.
