My deep interest in the language (narrative) of line originates from Paul Klee’s ideas on abstraction and linear expression. Through sculptural work I wish to pay particular attention to the intense energy that occurs on the edge of line, the place where the line no longer delineates the object but merges into space.

This year I intend to further research the human response to colour.
There are two differing schools of thought with regard to the
psychological affect of colour on the human consciousness. The first
theory is that our colour interpretation is indicative of our moods, with
colours seemingly cooler when we are feeling blue, or warmer as in the
case of seeing red.

The mystical elemental power of trees and wood as a building medium has
been the subject of human interest for thousands of years. The works I
am currently producing are representations of primitive through to
medieval projectile weapons, from that used by the hunter through to the
batteries of archers sometimes a thousand strong.
