Introduces students to the principles and processes of working with groups of students in music. Groups will include pre-instrumental classes for very young children, instrumental tuition groups and performing groups. In class, students will consider the advantages and disadvantages of group tuition, examine sample materials used in each of the specified teaching contexts, and discuss teaching strategies in relation to each. Students will observe groups in action and reflect on their observations. Opportunities will be provided for students to discuss their observations with the tutors responsible for each group visited
