This project involves the writing of, and research into, a methodology for introducing jazz to small groups whose players have some technique on their instruments, but have not played jazz before. The emphasis is on improvisation and the role played by all ensemble members during improvised solos.

The French Violin Sonata 1860-1900 (Doctorate)

The primary aims of the research are to examine the stylistic characteristics of the French violin Sonata composed between 1860 –1900, and to develop expertise in performance and interpretation by performing the violin sonatas of Fauré, Pierné, Saint-Saëns, Lekeu, Ravel, and Franck.
