The Prelude program is an initiative of the University of Tasmania's Conservatorium of Music. In co-operation with participating schools the Prelude program aims to identify exceptional Tasmanian music students in their final years of high school and provide an extension program allowing them to participate in some classes at the Conservatorium of Music concurrently with study for the TCE certificate.

The Overture program is an initiative of the University of Tasmania's Conservatorium of Music. In this program gifted students enrolled in colleges or high schools from outside of Hobart can take advantage of advanced placement opportunities at the Conservatorium of Music through distance education.
