Bachelor of Arts with Honours (English)

Rebecca Dorgelo photo My name is Rebecca Dorgelo, and I decided to study at the University of Tasmania because I didn't see any reason to leave Tasmania, and I believed that I would benefit just as much from studying my chosen course here as at any other university. The course that I chose was a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English and History. I had not done any English in year 11 or 12, so I thought that I should get back into it at uni. I enjoyed it immensely from First Year right through to my Honours year, which I am currently undertaking.

I have had an amazing amount of positive experiences throughout my BA, especially in my study of English, where the wide range of topics and the enthusiasm of the staff were particularly rewarding.

Other positive expereinces that have come about through my involvement with the School include the opportunity to help out with the editing of New Literatures Review, a journal edited by A/Professor Ralph Crane (Head of School) and Dr Anna Johnston. This is a valuable experience for me as I hope to work in editing and publishing in the future. So, I encourage anyone to think seriously about English as a course of study, as I've enjoyed it a great deal.

Update: Rebecca has been awarded a scholarship to support her research higher degree program at SEJEL from 2006.
