Dominic Lennard

Bachelor of Arts with Honours (English)

Dominic Lennard Hi, I’m Dominic, and I’m a full-time English Postgraduate student in the School of English, Journalism and European Languages at UTAS.

I began studying at UTAS because I wanted, simply, to do English studies, with the uncertain intention of eventually going into teaching. In any case, I’ve stayed around because it allows me the opportunity of working on things I really enjoy in the areas of literary and cultural studies. I became a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society in my first year, and was included in the ‘Dean’s Roll of Excellence’ for the second and third years of my degree. In my third year I was awarded the F.G.N. Ewence Memorial Prize for English, and the Cecil Rainer Murray History Prize for European History. Upon concluding my Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours in 2005, I was awarded a scholarship to continue my studies under the research higher degrees program at UTAS, where I am currently doing research into the depiction of children in literature and film.

The staff in SEJEL, both administrative and academic, have been both friendly and very helpful to me during the course of my undergraduate studies, and I’m continually grateful for their encouragement and advice as I pursue those studies further. In the past, courses such as ‘Modernism in British Literature: Poetry,’ ‘Rereading Chaucer,’ and ‘Film Noir’ I’ve enjoyed particularly – to name just a few.
