Taka is Coordinator of Japanese, College Language Program (Japanese), Japanese Scholarship, In-country and Language Exchange Programs, and Japanese Assistant Training Scheme in Tasmania

Research Interests

Her research interests include Japanese language teaching, Japanese syntax and contrastive study between English and Japanese.

Teaching

She has been teaching Japanese for nearly 30 years. Taka’s guiding principle as a teacher is based on what would be best for the students. Although a teacher has numerous duties she believes that her most basic responsibility as a teacher is to do her best in each and every class to help her students to learn. Taka has practised this throughout her teaching career. Taka organises various programs from which both Japanese language students and native speakers of Japanese benefit. She has been awarded two Vice-Chancellor’s Teaching Excellency Awards and several teaching merits at the University of Tasmania.
