Would you like your passion for languages to add value to your degree?

About the Diploma in Languages

A Diploma in Languages is a language major taken in its own right. It can give you formal recognition for your language learning either as a stand alone award or alongside another degree.

Structure

The DipLang has the structure of a major in a language: 100% weighting of units. The language units are studied in sequence at a structured pace of one unit per semester, with the option of studying one or two units overseas during the spring/summer break. To combine with another degree, in many cases the DipLang can be studied as a 12.5% overload alongside your core units and electives. Check with your Faculty Officer.

Entry pathways

You can enrol in a Diploma in Languages:

  • With no language experience at the beginners level
  • With previous language experience at the intermediate level
  • With language credits earned through previous study
  • With language credits earned through the UTAS College Language Program

To discuss your language level and available units, contact the coordinator for your language (see contacts below).

What languages are available?
