Marie Edwards, a graduate of the Tasmanian School of Art, holds a unique place in the Tasmanian art scene. During her ascent in the 1970s she was one of a few women artists in the State working seriously in the area of abstraction. She endowed this scholarship to enable postgraduate visual arts students to gain experience overseas while studying at UTAS. The scholarship can support a broad range of international projects and also assist self-funded residencies at the Rosamond McCulloch studio.
