Career Summary
Karen Lunn was awarded a PhD from the University of Tasmania in 2002 for her investigation of the connection between the knowledge and perception of the Homeland and the artefacts that exist as evidence of that place from the perspective of a first-generation child of a migrant. Since 2002 she has worked at the University of Tasmania tutoring and lecturing in Art Theory, Drawing and Printmaking. In 2005 she was appointed Associate lecturer in Printmaking. Her print-based works have been exhibited within Australia in Tasmania, Melbourne and Perth, and internationally in Sweden and Siberia.
Research Interests
Karen Lunn is interested in family photography and narrative, representations of cultural identity, explorations of the photographic object and items of ascribed significance and traditional as well as non-conventional, innovative printmaking.
Teaching
Karen Lunn’s teaching interests in Printmaking include traditional, contemporary and historical printmaking practice as well as innovative, cross-disciplinary art practices that utilise, challenge and expand the traditional notion of the print. In addition to lecturing undergraduate students in Printmaking, Karen Lunn is Associate Supervisor of students in the BFA Honours (F4A), Masters by Coursework (F7D) and Masters by Research (F8A) programmes.
